The Easter Vigil, held after nightfall on Holy Saturday, is the first and most significant celebration of Jesus’ Resurrection. During this liturgy, we will honor the festival of light, symbolizing the Light of the Resurrection through the new fire and the Paschal candle, which is lit in a darkened church. The “Alleluia” will be joyfully proclaimed for the first time since the beginning of Lent. Additionally, new members of the Catholic Church—OCIA catechumens—will be welcomed into the faith during this Mass, receiving the sacraments of Baptism, Eucharist, and Confirmation.

EASTER SUNDAY
APRIL 20

Masses: 8:00 AM, 10:00 AM, 12:00 NOON

The Easter Sunday Mass, while simpler in ritual than the Easter Vigil, celebrates with equal joy the heart of our faith: the Resurrection of Jesus Christ. It follows the usual Sunday liturgical structure, without the extended readings or dramatic ceremonies of the Vigil. Yet, in every word proclaimed and in every Eucharist celebrated, the miracle of the Resurrection is made present.

On Easter morning, the Church rejoices in the light of new life. Through the risen Christ, we are reminded that death has been conquered and hope is restored. Every Easter liturgy is an invitation to renew our Baptismal identity and live as a people of the Resurrection—called from the tomb to walk in the light of life.

Mass For Our Country

September - June:

First Thursday of the Month
Patriotic Rosary at 7:00 pm and Patriotic Mass at 7:30 pm

Imagine that you’ve been invited to the most important, most meaningful date of your life.

The person inviting you loves you more than anyone ever could, knows you completely, and wants to give you the greatest gift, which is eternal love. That person is God, and the invitation is to the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass.

Many of us Catholics prepare extensively for an important date. We pick the perfect outfit, set aside time, and make sure we are fully present, giving our undivided attention. But do we approach Mass with the same excitement and reverence? The truth is, every time we step into Holy Spirit Church, we are accepting God’s personal invitation to be with Him.
Why do we go to Mass? The answers are very simple. Mass is where we encounter Jesus in the Eucharist. At every Mass, Christ is truly present.
Not symbolically, not figuratively, but really and truly present with the Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity in the Eucharist.
When we receive Holy Communion, we are not just remembering Jesus; we are united with Him in the most intimate way possible.

What greater date could we have than receiving the Lord into our very being?
Mass is where God speaks to us. Just like any good relationship, communication is key. At Mass, God speaks to us through Scripture, through the prayers, and through the quiet of our hearts.

As Jesus said, “Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.” (Matthew 4:4) If we truly love someone, we want to listen to them. The Mass is our time to listen to God and respond in love.

Mass is where we say ‘I love you’ to God. Love is not just about words, it’s about actions.
Attending Mass is a way of showing God that we love Him, that we prioritize Him, and that we are grateful for all He has given us.

He gives us everything—life, grace, salvation—so shouldn’t we at least give Him one hour of our week? The ANSWER is YES!

So, I ask you this Easter: wouldn't you say yes if God Himself invited you to spend time with Him? Well, that’s exactly what happens every time Mass is celebrated.
God is waiting for you. He is eager to see you, to listen to you, to strengthen you. It’s not just another obligation—it’s a divine date, a sacred encounter, a moment of love between Creator and creation.
So the next time you think about skipping Mass, ask yourself: Would you cancel a date with the love of your life? Would you ignore someone who wants to give you everything? Or would you say YES to the most beautiful, life-giving relationship you could ever have?

God is waiting.
Say YES to the invitation.
Say YES to love.
Say YES to the Mass.

Happy Easter and may God bless you all.

The classes taught in the CCD Confraternity of Christian Doctrine program not only educate children about Jesus and the Catholic faith but, also, prepare children to receive the sacraments of Penance (Confession), the Eucharist (Holy Communion), and Confirmation. The schedule follows the Union Public School schedule as closely as possible. Information regarding registration is published in the church bulletin. Click here for the CCD class schedule.

Saint of the Day

Apr. 15 Tuesday of Holy Week, Holy Week

This Holy Week Mass brings us the second description of the Christlike Suffering Servant of the Lord. It is almost a portrait of Jesus during Holy Week. These final three Lenten Gospels all describe a dinner with Judas present.

Apr. 14 Monday of Holy Week, Holy Week

For those following the readings of daily Mass in Lent, the Biblical best has been saved for Holy Week. The book of the prophet Isaiah contains four separate descriptions of a "Suffering Servant"--a shadowy figure called by God to suffer and give his life for the people. Today we read the first description of the Christ-like Suffering Servant. Isaiah shows him as chosen by God and patiently preaching justice to the nations. It is almost a description of the dedicated, patient Jesus. The Responsorial Psalm is the prayer of the Suffering Servant.

Apr. 13 Palm Sunday of the Lord's Passion, Holy Week

So they took branches of palm trees and went out to meet him, crying, "Hosanna! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord, even the King of Israel!" And Jesus found a young ass and sat upon it; as it is written, "Fear not, daughter of Zion; behold, your king is coming, sitting on an ass's colt (Jn 12:13-15)!"
